MANAGERS at Yorkshire Post Newspapers have sealed themselves off with plastic ‘crime scene’ tape ahead of journalists taking strike action in protest against cuts to the papers’ quality that includes making journalists redundant.

The tape appeared outside the Leeds headquarters of the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post this morning. Members of the National Union of Journalists are set to walk out at one minute past midnight – and remain on strike for four days.

The move provoked an immediate response among those still working inside. One had produced a ‘crime scene’ poster – alleging that Johnston Press executives were wanted for offences to quality journalism.
