When I brought three-year-old Rose (sporting a pink wig) down to the picket line on Thursday to support her Dad and the rest of you I found myself crying when I explained to her what you were fighting for.

The decimation of regional journalism has GOT TO STOP! Keep making the noise everyone – you made me proud to be your ex-colleague.

Sure an oldie, one of Thatchers walking wounded, sending my support and greetings from the Dutch-German border. The strike song heard on U-Tube took me back to my CND and Committee of 100 days of the 1960’s.

As a freelance writer and journalist I have seen the whittling away of our freedoms. So to all you young people of Yorkshire and elsewhere fight the fight for all your might.

My old dad Yorkie would be justly proud.

one of your placards asked would you mis your paper?. No I would not, you can not even get your geography right. Eddys is on Kirkstall Road, The Golden Lion is in Armley as is the Rose and Crown. Your rag is a socialist insult to Leeds. I was on Leeds City Council I would stop all tax payersadvertising in your rag and invite the T&A to print a leeds edition.
